About The Author

D.D Barrowes

D. D. Barrowes lives in a little shingled house in mid-coast Maine with her husband and two dogs. She raised six children who are, she will tell you, the best thing she ever did.

For thirty years, she worked in business. Writing had been calling to her for years, but life was full, and there was always something else that needed doing. Then came a layoff. What might have felt like an ending became something else — a door held open.

She recognized it for what it was and walked through it gratefully.

Since then, she has written full-time.

Her fiction is rooted in the things that make us human: relationships, choices, memory, faith, uncertainty, loss, hope, and the quiet moments that can change the direction of a life. She is drawn to people as they really are — complicated, searching, imperfect, sometimes wounded, sometimes brave, and often still becoming.

Her stories ask the questions that stay with us long after the page is turned. What does it cost to become yourself? What do we owe the people we love? How do we find our way when the life we expected is no longer the life in front of us?

Faith runs through her work the way it runs through her life — not as argument, not as doctrine, but as atmosphere. It is the thing underneath everything else.

She does not pretend that faith is always easy. It requires humility. It requires questions. It requires a willingness to keep searching and to live for a while with what we do not yet know.

Sometimes you have to search for your people. Sometimes you have to search for what you believe. And when you finally find them, it can be worth everything the search cost.

That spirit of searching is at the heart of her writing.

She writes because a story, when it lands right, can give a reader something they did not know they needed. A breath of peace. A flicker of hope. A laugh or a sigh that comes from somewhere true.

She writes to remind readers that they are understood, that their questions matter, and that they are not alone.
